Be very cautious upon traveling back in November I noticed that this establishment was running a keno scam near the front of the casino! If I were a tourist I would be aware you could loose lots of money.
Good place to go for nightlife however as they have a decent disco.
My wife and I have traveled to Punta Cana for the past 15 years and each visit has us spending nights at the Avalon Casino as we enjoy playing cards after dinner and are looking for the "right atmosphere" and available table games. The Hard Rock casino is the largest one in Punta Cana but, in our opinion, the best place to go is the Avalon. It has about ten table games and several hundred slots but the best ingredient are the staff. They make you feel welcome and very much appreciate your patronage. Whether lady luck is present or not, the Avalon experience is outstanding. We have watched the staff at Avalon grow up over the past 15 years and are always taken back at how they greet us as though we were just there. As noted, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Some folks who come to mind are:
Aleidy J. Fortunato. I believe Aleidy is a pit boss. She speaks good English and has a smile and overall attitude that makes you very happy you chose the Avalon as your place for entertainment. She is outstanding.
Michael Gurrero Cobevan. I am not sure I have the spelling right but I believe Michael is an assistant pit boss or the like. He has been there throughout our 15 years of attendance and can be counted on for great service and his very warm and friendly presence.
I don't recall the manager's name, however, each year, he makes the effort to stop by and say hi and, over the years, he has quickly resolved any of our needs. He has also been there during all 15 years, as have almost all the staff. Another lady whose name I did not write down, who appears to be an assistant manager, is very special and professional.
There is another fellow there, also named Michael, who greets us when we arrive and seems to handle various promotions. He says he is form the NY/New Jersey area and has been at Avalon for the past several years. Each visit has him making an effort to welcome us. While I don't recall all of the dealers names, others who have served us for many years are, Henry, Robert (now some form of manager), Balbina, Bernabe, Alphonsarina, Elvis, Carlos, etc. They were all great and I should end by noting that we are not large gamblers. Our nightly budget is modest yet, to these folks, the size of yoru bet is not as important. They just want you to have a good experience.
