This Seminole Casino is located east of State Road 7 in Coconut Creek, Florida.
In 2007 this Coconut Creek casino underwent a $32 million expansion which added the Fresh Harvest buffet restaurant, the Nectar Lounge, and the Sunset Grill.
In 2012 Seminole Casino Coconut Creek completed a $150 million expansion adding a 100,000-sq-ft gaming floor, the Stax Poker Lounge, and three new restaurants (NYY Steak, Sorrisi Italian Restaurant, and the 1st Street Deli). See the video below for more information about this expansion.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida also hope to build a new huge, 1000-room hotel and entertainment complex at Coconut Creek. In 2012 the first federal environmental review was completed for a 20-story hotel tower, an expanded casino, a 2,500-seat theater and more shops and restaurants. The hotel would be the largest in South Florida.

No dollars or sense in visiting unless you're just there to eat
I had the dubious distinction of being an X-Card player with the Seminole tribe, which is the highest tier status they confer on their players (victims). Accordingly, I am able to offer a well-rounded perspective on what gaming with the Seminoles has (and doesn t have) to offer. While I may periodically reference the tribe s Hollywood FL property for contrast, this review will be focused on the Coconut Creek location.
Given that we re in the age of COVID I ll start by saying that you re unlikely to die of coronavirus at a Seminole property (you ll only wish you had). They do a pretty consistent job of keeping people separated, enforcing the wearing of masks, and frequently sanitizing high-touch objects and surfaces. If your mask becomes damaged or you walk in having forgot yours, they will readily provide you with one. You can always be confident that the Seminoles are taking every possible precaution to keep you healthy and gambling so that their extraction of every dollar from your pocket can continue with the least disruption possible.
The only major plus associated with this property is its signature restaurant, NYY Steak. The food and service are consistently excellent; the Seminoles are smart enough to know that there has to be at least one redeeming quality in a casino for patrons to consider coming back, and this restaurant is it. The wine list is robust, the specials are varied and rarely disappoint, and the Miyazaki wagyu melts in your mouth like butter. If you re coming just to eat and plan to ignore the incredibly skewed gaming aspect of the casino, then you re maximizing the value of the experience this property has to offer.
On the subject of gaming, if you re coming to this casino with even the faint hope that you might win something, you are going to the wrong place. This property s machines are set tighter than a snare drum that was then freeze-dried, shrink-wrapped, and cast into a singularity. The spin button might as well read donate , because gaming with the Seminoles is effectively indistinguishable from an act of donation. There is no quantity of money that will slake their unquenchable thirst or evince even a minute prospect of paying you back. It s commonplace to sink thousands of dollars into their machines without hitting a single bonus, and on the rare occasion a machine malfunctions by awarding one, that bonus will frequently produce less than 10 times your bet amount after the many hundreds of spins you sank into the machine to get it. I have spoken with many other players during my trips there and the consensus has been that the tribe has gotten particularly greedy (not that they were ever known for their generosity) in the wake of the coronavirus. With their expenses driven up by their new safety measures, they ve opted to reach all the way into their players pockets to make up the difference. The amount of play time you get for your gaming dollar is worse than laughable and the fact that they have no outside regulators to keep them (even marginally) honest also doesn t help matters.
After each losing session, provided you ve lost a sufficient amount, the Seminoles will give you what they call Bounceback Free Play. However, unless they envisioned an anvil bouncing on concrete when they chose the name, a more apt name would be Battleship Anchor Free Play , as it s just an excuse for them to get you back into the casino so they can drag you straight back down into their purposefully engineered financial abyss. I ve also never found the hosts at this location to be anything but useless. Every complaint I ve submitted has been brushed aside without any regard. They ll placate you with the occasional comp, give you preferential parking if you rack up enough tier points, convert your automatic comp dollars (with which they re stingy enough to begin with) to half value in free play, and every now and then insult you with bonus free play equal to a minute fraction of your losses (all this, mind you, if you qualify for their highest tier of generosity). You might ask, what about table games? Surely blackjack isn t rigged to the extent of their machines? Indeed, the odds afforded by blackjack and the (relative) honestly of a live card game make for a much better experience than their donation terminals. If you are experiencing parameters the outcome of which is that you walk away with money, the Seminoles will change the rules to ensure the incident is isolated and they will keep changing them until they re sure there s no chance you can walk away a winner. It is an insidious process that they consciously orchestrate with great care and sophistication in order to drain every person who sets foot through their doors. The net effect of this is that any protracted gaming with the Seminoles for all practical purposes eliminates any possibility of coming out ahead. In a single, isolated instance the statistical chance of winning theoretically exists, but if you give the Seminoles multiple gaming sessions, they systematically eliminate even the luck factor such that the player is left with effectively no statistical possibility of winning.
The key takeaway here is that if you re a once-a-year player, a tourist passing through, or otherwise plan to never visit this casino with any frequency, then there s really no harm in trying the casino out. The food at NYY is excellent, they keep it clean, and as long as you re comfortable knowing that you re virtually guaranteed to leave your bankroll behind, it s possible to enjoy an isolated evening at the Coconut Creek casino.
However, if you like to gamble with any degree of frequency, this casino is nothing more or less than a parasitic extraction center designed to feed on your financial strength. The healthier your balance sheet, the more desperately they latch on in an effort to leech as much of your money into their coffers as can be socially, legally, and mathematically engineered. A state-run casino may have less in the way of amenities, but at least there are outside regulators in place to prevent precisely the abuses the Seminoles leverage to extract their players. If you are a more-than-twice-a-year player, I cannot recommend any more stridently that you take your gaming dollars elsewhere. I can say from extensive experience that your enjoyment will be significantly greater and that even if you lose every dollar at a competing property, you ll end up no worse off financially than if you had donated at Coconut Creek.
