The SAS or also known as IGTs Slot accounting system is the industry standard when it comes to slot
Obtaining documentation on it is very difficult unless you are a member of Gaming Standard Association. Becoming a member will set you back about 10 grand per year which is a small chunk change if you are a big gaming company or half your networth if you are a hobbyist. As a small time hobbyist, what can you do? You can reverse engineer their protocol by going to ebay and get a cheap IGTs S2000 machine and connect your serial port sniffer and that is what I did. This is interesting for me. I am looking for a way to make an interface with the old Bally V5000 series to have them communicate with other SAS systems.But as we all know you need the protocol before anything else. Please let me know if you can help me with this. Bally used to be the 500pound gorilla but they never behaved like IGT does.
Sure. I will post SAS common game events from my observation through a serial port sniffer which is probably what you need. Obviously, you would not need to know every SAS messages since some of them might be irrelevant to your project anyway.
